Here’s how to claim your Loblaw gift card

In an effort to get ahead of the public outcry after disclosing a prior price-fixing with some of their bread products, Loblaw’s has offered all Canadians who may have been affected a $25 gift card for use in their stores.

How do you claim your Loblaws money?

Starting January 8 and going until May 8, Canadian Loblaw’s customers can head to the Loblaw Card redemption website to register for a card. You have to be the age majority in your province and have purchased bread from Loblaw stores between January 1, 2002 and March 1, 2015.

The exact stores that qualify are listed on the website but particularly important for those in Western Canada to note are the Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills and Extra Foods, among others.

Is proof of purchase necessary?

As of today, it seems Loblaw’s isn’t requiring customers to submit purchase receipts to prove they bought bread at Loblaws store within that time period.

What about class action lawsuits?

It’s likely Loblaw will be hit with class action lawsuits as the details of the price-fixing scandal emerge. Accepting the $25 gift card doesn’t mean you can’t participate in these. The company is simply offering the gift card as a goodwill gesture.
