What to make, what to bake? Raspberry coffee cake? Lemon coffee cake? Sour cream coffee cake? How about COFFEE coffee cake? From Epicurious comes a recipe for --- and this is what they call it --- Coffee coffee coffee cake.
Whisk 2 1/2 cups flour, espresso powder, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and cardamom in a medium bowl. Whisk coffee, sour cream, and vanilla in another medium bowl. Beat granulated sugar and 1/2 cup butter in a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Bake at 350 for about 40 to 50 minutes.
Serve with --- coffee?

So, there it is. National Coffee Cake Day. And you thought it was just going to be another one of those days. Make it a fun day. Make or buy a coffee cake and take it to work. Proudly announce the little known fact to everyone and celebrate. However, there may be colleagues who will turn down the opportunity because they prefer tea. Ahhh! Let them know that this June, you'll bring in tea cake because, guess what? June is National Iced Tea Month and then, in January it's National Hot Tea Month. (Why tea gets a whole month, I don't know)
