We all buy into this idea that there is an invisible line that divides 'us' from 'them'; the Calgarians from the Edmontonians. You're either a Flames fan, or an Oilers fan. But never before has a region of people put aside their differences and come together so quickly as Albertans when our neighbours need our help.
The slogan "Alberta Strong" was founded during the 2013 floods. It is a slogan that brings Albertans together during the good times and the bad times alike. We are a diverse province filled with strong, kind, hard working people. People who would literally give you the shirt off their back if you needed it. A true testament of that has been shown once again, with the devastating news of the wild fires in Fort McMurray.
People are offering up their support in every way they can. Opening up their homes and their wallets to complete strangers. Offering words of hope and encouragement in what might seem like a hopeless situation to those that have lost everything they own.
With the outpouring of support, it can be overwhelming and confusing to know what channels are most effective in getting much needed support to the right places. So we have compiled a list of places that will maximize your support:
